I’m finishing up a little project so I can put different vehicles on a flat car without having to tie them down. Basically some flat steel and magnets from the hardware store and a little cutting. I hollowed out some blocks that I had from another car and glued the magnets in. Everything got glued down overnight and I stained the remaining deck a dark ebony wood stain. I have some metal blackening solution coming from Micro Mark I’m going to try on the flat steel.

Smart idea Chris.
Chris, Is the blue flatbed with sides an Athearn truck? Good concept. John

Yes. I believe I bought it from you John.
Nice idea Chris. It got thinking about possibly using thumbtacks or carpet tacks instead of sheet steel with the magnets.

Thanks Joe. This has been kind of experiment to see how it would work. So far so good. One advantage of using the steel strips is it adds a nice weight to the car that is a little light right out of the box.
You're welcome Chris. I never thought about the weight. Nice bonus. Can't wait to see how the blackening agent works.
I’ll update the pictures when I get the stuff in from Micro Mark.
great idea
here is a 3D model print that you can insert a 3mm x2mm magnet into.
these may be too small to print.

Thanks Alan. I definitely don’t have the printer or know how to do it anyway! The magnets I have are pretty strong. Let me measure the magnet and I’ll get back to you.
No cost I pay postage too.
I would use these on highways with sloped roadways to hold vehicles in place.
Place another magnet under the roadway.
