All,
Military history nerd alert. You've been warned.
At the time of Military Transport Command (1940s), there were no modern tractor trailers like the on this flat car. Sort of like the clock tower ringing in Shakespeare's Julius Caesar...an anachronism. Maybe I'll buy the car and separate them. There is a US Transportation Command today, but it's just that, not Military Transportation Command.
Another example: The helicopter profile on some versions of the Lionel Coast Guard box car is an Army AH-64 attack helicopter with someone repelling (!). Needless to say, none of those are in the Coast Guard and no one ever repelled from an Apache.
Lionel and Menard's could easily pay me to help them avoid such errors in the future. Ha!
Cheers,
Ollie
Actually touched one of these in person yesterday... It is a great car for the money! Hopefully they offer more sacle (1:48) offerings in the future.
Ollie,
Based n what I've read here on the forum every time a manufacturer produces a military item or a forum member creates a car or train of their own, there's a long, long line ahead of you.
Just sayin!
This is Cabinet Bob's rendition. Not Menards. He was just saying how the decking looks much better.
My mistake. No offense intended toward Cabinet Bob. Sorry for my confusion!
Cheers,
Ollie
Ollie....I was showing the new deck on the flatcar..the semi does NOT come with it...just for your info.....Also..these are toys..not the real thing..
