The only issue I saw with your set of switches you tested were the steam engine hit the Frog very hard and bounced up on both of them. Other than that looks pretty good for a first try!
My understanding (as noted in Eric's excellent video and verified directly by Menards rep) is that the first run of the new switches is completely sold out.
Perhaps Eric will do a comprehensive test/review for the magazine.
