Another home run from our friends at Menards ! All three have great graphics and perfect paint jobs. They go through my 022 switches with no problems. As with all Menards rolling stock, oil the trucks first.

They look great, hopefully more roadnames come along.
Yep, Menards Trains has a winner with those tank cars.
I thought the trucks were plastic. Why the need to oil them?

A little oil never hurts .

Thanks for the photos Bob. It is always appreciated to see them in "real life!"

They look like plastic trucks in Cabinet bob's photo's.

Yeah, they DO look plastic & the description does say: "The cars in this series measure 10-1/2" inches long and have die-cast metal wheels and operating couplers." I'm surprised they they are "regressing" to plastic. Guess its saving a few cents per item.

So Cabinet Bob... you have then in hand...plastic or metal trucks?
Imagineif.....Menard`s takes over MTH? (I can dream can`t I...???) Probably not going to happen...
At the $20 price point I would expect plastic trucks, much like the gondolas. What do RailKing modern tankers go for nowadays?

They are plastic trucks. The end caps of the tanks are metal and the actual tank is plastic. The handrails and everything else chrome are naturally metal. The paint job, I must say is first class. Along with the graphics. For 19.99 you can't go wrong... just wait to see whats coming next !!!

Are those wheels die-cast metal? They look like metal, but they don't look cast. Not a very well worded description on Menards' part.
Cast metal parts can look like plastic depending on how they are painted. After all, the binder in paints is generally a plastic such as methyl methacrylate or styrene.

The wheels are metal, not plastic

There was a bit of confusion among us since all other Menards tank & boxcars from the past couple years (all $20) have had die-cast trucks. So the $20 price is not necessarily an indicator of plastic.
I don't know if this is common knowledge or not, but if you are fortunate enough to live near a Menards. I just did an in store order (ship to store) for the 6 pack of assorted new tank cars plus an additional box car, at check out I was able to use my stack of rebates. Just thought I would share...Can't wait to get the tankers..I am Happy!

I'm slightly bummed they went back to plastic trucks. Having said that most of my fleet has plastic trucks and I have not noticed it being a problem. I honestly don't see how they can sell a car with metal trucks for $20. If the choice was raise prices or develop a good plastic truck, I'm fine with plastic as long as it works.

DMASSO, Looks Great!
I still can't find the Tide boxcar, I could have sworn that I saw it on the website once. Maybe just wishful thinking.
