Stopped by Menards today to pick up some lawn winterizer and naturally had to check out the electric train area. Something neat about going into a big box store for lawn stuff and checking out the train stuff. Anyways the shelves have started to fill in with train stuff but a lot of locations still empty. One item that jumped out at me was the NS premier flatcar with the rocket load, very impressive, so I added it to my shopping cart. One interesting side note, the built date is 2016, I guess Menards is ahead of the curve on production.

A 1/48 scale Saturn V rocket would be about 7.5 feet long and about 8.25 inches in diameter.  I guess we won't be seeing any scale Saturn V's on O gauge trains.

I really want to get some of the NS flatcars.  But, empty please.

Theres the link you requested!

I'm running out of planning time, but I'f I could, I would purchase the entire army train and rocket car, and replace the helicopter with one of those actual flying RC choppers. The kids on our layout would never expect a helicopter to take off from a moving train & circle the room!

Interesting idea.

I'm not good enough at flying those things to get it out of the way of the car behind it before it would be taken out.    Would need either a very rapid ascent, or some forward component of motion to make it move with the train (without going too far and flying it into the car in front)

If you ever do execute this, a video would be really cool!
