I got the same e-mail! For every boxcar ordered a free Mack flatbed truck, no limits! So now I'm officially annoyed because Saturday I ordered the 8 car set of NP cars and a CN car, a flat car with the CNW truck and an ambulance! If I had waited one day and ordered the two extra cars and the ambulance I could have gotten two trucks! So I spent 194.00 and get no trucks and someone can spend 20.00 and get one a day later! No one's fault, but annoying nontheless!! Just venting!
Ok. I know you guys can't sleep wondering how I made out with Menards! Sent them an e-mail last night, explaining my feelings (see above post). By noon today a reply, sending me two Mack trucks, no problem! That was all I really expected because the 8 car deal was over anyway. Actually I would have been happy with one as a good will gesture! Two things to take away from this. State your problem calmly and pleasently, and deal with companies who know how to do business! Mark, thanks for your suggestion and interest!  Bill

jojofry,

We will have more in mid to late September. This building has been very popular and we had a slight inventory hiccup. Let me know if you have any more questions.

Jim,

There are no plans to make more at this time. This serves as a reminder that our boxcars are limited. How do you feel about this strategy? Do you think it helps our collectability?

John,

The tank cars are coming along nicely. Unfortunately, we suspect that these will not be ready for the holiday season. I will keep you posted though.

You are correct, our buildings are limited. The Hobby Shop, however, is only sold out for a little while. We expect to have more in mid September.

Let me know if you have more questions.

Mark.

I tried to order 6 cars and specified ship to store.  The message appeared on my cart that the store specified (Topeka, KS) cannot accept the order.  What goes on?  I have had a number of orders shipped to Topeka before.  Of course, I live in Lawrence, and our store here is still a few months from completion.   I deleted the order, but would re-enter if this was an error.  Thanks for checking.

You might try speaking with the store manager.

I've seen various "chain" managers go against the grain with resistance to servicing those who make online orders of things not stocked.

It normally has something to do with responsibilities, and hassles of dealing with the non-stocked items if they don't get picked up.(they are likely totally separate companies financially)

I know some "online home stores were plagued with cancelations, irate buyers with no ID(duh), ID theft orders with pickup by a "mule", etc etc.

It may even be a "temporary" issue there.

Showing your face, and/or speaking to someone often helps smooth the way doing business anywhere.

Ho hum....items not available at all locations, items, prices, sizes, colors, mfg, and mileage may vary.

Al,

I'm looking into this for you and I will have an answer shortly. I changed my store on menards.com to Topeka and didn't have any issues ordering ship to store. I will shoot you an email to the address in your profile and I'm sure we can figure something out.
