did not see this posted elsewhere (but could be wrong, my searches often are poorly done). email from another publication touting a free mack truck for every train car purchased. no limit.

that is correct.

Anyone know if the marks on the trucks are decals or paint?
So if you buy the 24 Flatcar, do you get 24 trucks or do you get 1? Next question when is this offer expiring?
Dang it does not work for the case of 24 Flatcar.
As a side note, I love the system Menards uses to track the item both through the ordering process and shipping process. The email they send is really helpful in this.
They sure are making their presence known in our hobby.
Now that's a special deal those of us no where near a brick and mortar store can take advantage of. Thank, Menards!
i have been interested in menards buildings, but not so much their cars. this promotion caused me to look at the cars and i found two that i like (am fond of flats with loads). wasn't really that hot for the truck(s), curiosity led me to the cars. a successful promotion.
Pretty cool promotion.

I was waiting for a special sale from Menards and now I found it! Just ordered the Reading Lines box car.

jojofry,
We will have more in mid to late September. This building has been very popular and we had a slight inventory hiccup. Let me know if you have any more questions.

I ordered the B&O Sentinel boxcar and Mack truck. I remember seeing both on rail and highway, not so long ago it seems.
Thanks Menards!
Thanks Mark!
Mark,
On your website this Santa Fe box car has been marked "SOLD OUT" for a long time. However, it has never been removed from your website. Does this mean you will be making more?

Jim,
There are no plans to make more at this time. This serves as a reminder that our boxcars are limited. How do you feel about this strategy? Do you think it helps our collectability?

I bet there will be a lot of the Mack trucks for sale at york this October.

Mark,
I believe the way you have been producing and releasing your box cars for sale is a great way to business. When you announce them, they are ready to be bought. There's no six month or longer wait for your product. Mark, just keep doing it, the way you have been. It's working fine.
Mark, how is those tank cars coming along? I see the hobby shop is soldout, does this mean the buildings are also limited? I purchased two Cabinette maker buildings and will need to sell one someday.

John,
The tank cars are coming along nicely. Unfortunately, we suspect that these will not be ready for the holiday season. I will keep you posted though.
You are correct, our buildings are limited. The Hobby Shop, however, is only sold out for a little while. We expect to have more in mid September.
Let me know if you have more questions.

Thank you Mark!

I tried to order 6 cars and specified ship to store. The message appeared on my cart that the store specified (Topeka, KS) cannot accept the order. What goes on? I have had a number of orders shipped to Topeka before. Of course, I live in Lawrence, and our store here is still a few months from completion. I deleted the order, but would re-enter if this was an error. Thanks for checking.

You might try speaking with the store manager.
I've seen various "chain" managers go against the grain with resistance to servicing those who make online orders of things not stocked.
It normally has something to do with responsibilities, and hassles of dealing with the non-stocked items if they don't get picked up.(they are likely totally separate companies financially)
I know some "online home stores were plagued with cancelations, irate buyers with no ID(duh), ID theft orders with pickup by a "mule", etc etc.
It may even be a "temporary" issue there.
Showing your face, and/or speaking to someone often helps smooth the way doing business anywhere.
Ho hum....items not available at all locations, items, prices, sizes, colors, mfg, and mileage may vary.

Al,
I'm looking into this for you and I will have an answer shortly. I changed my store on menards.com to Topeka and didn't have any issues ordering ship to store. I will shoot you an email to the address in your profile and I'm sure we can figure something out.
