"HONGZ" stands for HO scale, N scale, G scale, and Z scale.

Post your non-O scale stuff here!

Casey Jones, Micro Trains "World's Smallest Model Railroad Equipment" HOO gauge ...produced by Carl Norstrand of Sweden 1946-8.
In the race to miniaturize model trains split 1/2" to create 1/4" ( O gauge ) , split again gives you 1/8" (E gauge ) ..HO took an odd turn spliting into two schools 3.5mm ( today conventional HO ) and 4mm ..4mm in America became OO gauge...split in half gives you 2mm H OO gauge ..(half OO gauge ).
2mm was first offered by Bing as a floor toy about 1912.
Norstand patterned the NYC Hudson for his lead engine to pull 2mm to the forefront of the model train world. In 1946 Norstand pens an article for a Swedish magazine , reprinted ( in English ) 1947 in the Model Craftsman .
1948 International imports the new H OO gauge line ...then the line vanishes till appearing on the cover of Model Railroading March 1956...text mentioning trains were no longer available .
Here we have the Micro Trains Hudson next to a Nason Hudson OO gauge (1936-41) and an Icken Hudson 1/4" scale mid 1930's.
So anyone out there have any Micro 2mm trains ? Micro also offered a Pullman coach , box car ...unknown if other cars were made .
Oh yes this is small ...diecastings ..motor in tender to drive engine ..track measures out to 10mm...just 1mm larger than current N gauge .
1mm matters when you are this small .
More work is needed before the Hudson is pounding the high iron .

Very interesting!  I love the history you are preserving.  For the longest time, I have told anyone who will listen that the history of pre and early postwar scale trains needs to be documented and preserved and you are almost single handedly doing it.  That is a really nice little Hudson.  I spent several years in N scale, but nothing truly vintage in my collection.

Thanks for sharing!
