For Christmas this year, on top of all of the other fun train stuff that we got, I picked up a NOS MTH Wabash Hudson #702 for my 3 year old son. He loves it, the sounds, the smoke, the bright light on the front. He has decided that this is a "Night Train" and we can only run it in the dark. He sees a lot of trains by our house, especially at night and has told me that Night Trains take over for Day Trains when it gets dark.

So the last few nights, we've hooked up some of the lighted cars we have and run them around in the pitch black basement with nothing but the lights from things on the layout and cars shining.

We were playing around on the layout tonight so I figured I'd post a few pics of it. We've only got a 4x8 right now and it is currently a disaster, but that will hopefully be changing in the near future with some ideas for a bigger layout.

I want to give a shout out to all of the people on this forum, without a lot of your help and contributions in knowledge, our little train empire wouldn't be as far along as it is. I look forward to expanding it out so that we can have even more fun.

Thanks all! We try and have a lot of fun with our set. HotWheels, construction vehicles, army guys and dragons are all welcome on our layout.

One of the things I remember when I was little was playing with my train in the basement with my Dad and Grand Father. When I go and make a purchase, I use that to help get it past the Mrs, that he'll be playing with these trains with his kids and grand kids.
