Here are a few photos from 10/03/2009 while on the Cadillac Fall Doubleheader with the 1225 and the 765 pulling a train from Alma, MI to Cadillac.  One of the last runs for the 1225 before she went down for her 15 year rebuild.

Nice shots of a double header.  I don't think I've ever even seen one yet.  For this week I have some good news.  The Dakota Southern Railroad hasn't hauled a train over their tracks in nearly a decade.  BNSF changed the way they billed for less than unit sized grain trains and that was not good for the DS.  This year, there was new elevator built which included a fertilizer depot. (These are called an "agronomy complex." )  DS totally rebuilt their line from Mitchell to Oacomo, SD, including new welded rail.  Last weekend they ran their first train, 75 cars of fertilizer, to the new Kimball elevator.  I got up a 5am Saturday to be there on time.  Track speed was held to 25 mph and they used BNSF run-through power.  Future runs will be using the much more interesting DS power.  Some shots below.  It may stun some of you, but I still know how to use a Nikon digital camera.

Nice one, Mitch. Good stuff, all! I especially liked the first double header shot above.

Here's one from my neck of the woods, WMSR 734 with a three car charter in early evening light (light from the east, during the regular run the light is not good here). This is at Sunnyside, Woodcock Hollow near Mt. Savage.
