How is everyone doing? Missing the Midweek Photo thread? I woke up late today, and this computer is a bit slow when I am in a hurry. Thanks for waiting.
It has been a colorful week in Northeastern Pennsylvania. We might have actually passed the peak of the fall foliage season.
We see some great color on this beech tree near Reading 2124 at Steamtown earlier today.
Some other nice color came to the rails this past Sunday, Oct 16, as Central RR of New Jersey 1554 pulled into the boarding platform of Steamtown. The train was going to Delaware Water Gap, 60 miles east.
Here we are at the Delaware Water Gap station. Interstate 80, crossing above the tracks, then crosses the Delaware River. Restoration on the station has been at a standstill for about a decade.
My crew, walking the road into town, about a half mile away.
This old parking garage is now an antiques store. Some railroad memorabilia is inside.
It's still a rough-cut town, with this stone, possibly slate, still butting up to the sidewalks.
Our train is ready to head back to Scranton. We had some mechanical issues, easily fixed by the mechanic, but taking some time for the mechanic to get to the train. We arrived at 7:30, 2 1/2 hours later than expected.
That, in a nutshell was my week of railroad photography. How did yours go? Any contributions posted here are welcome. Tell all of your friends. I'll see you next week!
