How is everyone doing?  Missing the Midweek Photo thread?  I woke up late today, and this computer is a bit slow when I am in a hurry.  Thanks for waiting.

It has been a colorful week in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  We might have actually passed the peak of the fall foliage season.

We see some great color on this beech tree near Reading 2124 at Steamtown earlier today.

Some other nice color came to the rails this past Sunday, Oct 16, as Central RR of New Jersey 1554 pulled into the boarding platform of Steamtown. The train was going to Delaware Water Gap, 60 miles east.

Here we are at the Delaware Water Gap station.  Interstate 80, crossing above the tracks, then crosses the Delaware River. Restoration on the station has been at a standstill for about a decade.

My crew, walking the road into town, about a half mile away.

This old parking garage is now an antiques store.  Some railroad memorabilia is inside.

It's still a rough-cut town, with this stone, possibly slate, still butting up to the sidewalks.

Our train is ready to head back to Scranton.  We had some mechanical issues, easily fixed by the mechanic, but taking some time for the mechanic to get to the train. We arrived at 7:30, 2 1/2 hours later than expected.

That, in a nutshell was my week of railroad photography.  How did yours go?  Any contributions posted here are welcome.  Tell all of your friends.  I'll  see you next week!

This past Friday through Sunday was my fall railfan excursion, this year I rented 2 nights at Earl Cummins'
property in Fairhope, PA., right on CSX's Sand Patch grade. I would also venture up to Altoona,PA to take in Horseshoe Curve, and to Hollidaysburg,PA., to photograph the Everett RR steam operations.
Here are a very few of the 330+ images I took with my newly acquired Nikon D-7000 DSLR.

20161018_130727Tuesday I had to travel 50 miles on 2 lane roads to a noon meeting in Columbus Ne. Met about 1 car per mile. Combines working the fields. After that I went down to the UP mainlines. The nice stone depot is recently razed. Maintenence was putting in a couple of grade crossings downtown. I caught this big guy idling. From the rumble of the motor, the unit has big power. Then a shot of 4 signals. Wonder how the engineer's keep it all straight.

Finally, a string if tankers waiting for a tow to the alcohol plant. Oh, and a tree shows its colors. Nice day for a road trip.20161018_13002320161018_13003220161018_130746

Some photos of the oversized loads that are being unloaded between Berwick and Beach Haven, PA. They are for the new Moxie Energy Natural Gas Power Plant being built a few miles away. The cars are parked on what is left of the old DL&W Bloomsburg Branch. They are being unloaded at the Riverview Block location, and transported by truck about 3 miles up Rt. 11. You can see these cars along Rt. 11 if you are up this way. The North Shore Railroad will be delivering several of these oversized loads over the next several weeks.

One of the flat cars placed between each of the oversized loads.
