Excellent start to the thread this week, Marker! Thank you. Here are some photos I will add to this round of pics.
This past Saturday, October 20, Steamtown ran a few excursions to Moscow. As the afternoon train was pulling into the boarding platform, the train, led by the Lackawanna F3s met up with Philadelphia Suburban "Red Arrow Line" car no. 80.
This year, it seems like the 663 faces East and 664 faces West. Each year changes things a bit.
Before the train could leave, the mainline needed to clear out. A rather long freight on the Delaware Lackawanna was East of the earlier train while in Moscow. This photo, around 1:30 PM, meant that we had nothing to worry about. Steam engine no. 26 was waiting behind our train, ready to head out in the yard, and also stay clear of the freight.
Two trains passing.
Our layover in Moscow, PA, about 13 miles away. Freeman Jerry is getting ready to board after picking up something to eat.
Our train at rest in Scranton, after two runs. What we used to do regularly with a steam locomotive, (two trains a day to Moscow and return, up to four days a week) is now somehow exotic. Tomorrow is another, day, and would see these F-units on the road again to Cresco, PA, about 38 miles from Scranton, PA.
