Wednesday is back!
Yes, the lovable(?!?!) girl from the Addams Family reminds us that the final days of October are here and this is the final Midweek Photo before Halloween.
Looking a lot like a drag racing car on its travel trailer, Mount Washington Railway no. 1, the Peppersass was being prepared to leave Scranton, PA to return home last Thursday.
Being somewhat disassembled, this was her last stop in the sun before hitting the road. If you are new to Midweek Photos, this is the turntable plaza of Steamtown National Historic Site.
A few days later, on October 23, Steamtown ran two trains. Steam engine no. 26 would run the Nay Aug Gorge Limited trains that day, while F3 664 and C420 405 tag-teamed a trip to Cresco, PA, which is 38 miles away. The two trains are going through their brake tests in this view.
A little after 1:00, the train pulls into the Cresco station. After dispatching the passengers, the train heads out to the Bestway Lumber yard so the locos can be repositioned for the return to Scranton.
John James and his bluegrass band performed outside the depot.
Here comes the train. Boarding would begin shortly.
And back in Scranton. Another successful run. How did you do? Have you ridden a fall foliage train? Gone on a chase? What about freights? Subways? Anything on rails in the real world fits into this thread. We greatly welcome your contributions!
