Happy Halloween, or at least Halloween Eve!

I have no spooky photos to post on this Midweek thread, but if you do, please add them to the page.

I was in Northumberland, PA yesterday, and decided to have lunch at the Front Street station, a former union station for the town, serving the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western. It isn't easy getting a decent photo of the station because of the changes made to her in being made a restaurant.

Only at the roof level can you see how nice the station once was.  By the way, you can get a seat in that gabled area and hopefully watch the trains.

Here is a view of the depot that was framed in the station.

I saw the North Shore SW8s down the road, but could not access them, since they were working deep in the yard.  I did capture this GP60 in fresh paint sitting idly by at the boarding platform.

 A close up view.

Since there isn't any way to get on the "sunny side" of the tracks, these shots of track repair machines in action will have to do.

I hope some of you were able to get sunny views of the trains you encountered in your recent journeys.  If so, share them here.  Have a great week folks.  See you next Wednesday

This past weekend I chased the 765 as she retraced the route of the Wabash Cannonball across Indiana.

Southwest of Ft. Wayne.  She was running like a watch.  Very little smoke, mostly steam.  The cool morning air really helped condense the steam producing quite a cloud.

Near Burrows, Indiana, along Rt 25.  Beautiful scenery.  The trees look nice too!

Very neat, Tom! I'm glad you could catch it, and share your chase with us.

It wasn't so much of a chase as a walk for me this past Saturday.  I positioned myself at the University of Scranton to catch the final weekend of train excursions at Steamtown National Historic Site.

With no steam locomotives running this year, we cut the season short.  Those coaches are not pleasant when you are cold, and the steam engine provides the heat.

We were down at Cumberland last week, and did a little train watching.

This is at the east end of the CSX Cumberland freight yard, and is across from

the caller's office. The two trainmen are crew waiting for a following westbound

manifest to recrew it.

The building in the background at the front of 188 is the main repair shop at

the Cumberland CSX Locomotive Shops.
