Hey, Gang. Wednesday has arrived already. Not only are the days getting shorter here in the Northern Hemisphere, but the weeks seem to be also.
Here are a few shots I was able to snag the past few days.
Since last Saturday was really nice weather, I decided to get some new angles on the Steamtown yard trains called the Scranton Limited. Not all of my ideas worked out too well, as you can see above.
However, when I reached the track level, I caught this classic image of her backing down past the old Mattes St. Tower.
A nice surprise was catching Delaware Lackawanna's train getting ready to pull out as soon as the Limited cleared the switch.
In the lead was former Erie-Lackawanna 2452, along with partner 2461. Both are C425s.
Smoking up more than all the others was Central of New Jersey RS3 number 1554.
Following the RS is C420 414 from the Lehigh Valley, and C425 painted in the D-L's corporate colors.
These cars are all sand cars. The train may look like it is headed to the Poconos, but it is not.
They actually had to pull west to clear the same switch as the passenger train needed. Backing down this track allowed the sand cars to reach the former Delaware & Hudson line leading to Carbondale, PA.
The long shadows are actually cast around noon. Shorter days mean more limited rail fanning options.
That was my day. How did you do? Any cool locations or trains caught by your camera or phone of late? If you were lucky, please post your shots right here.
Have a great time, and be safe out there.
