Wednesday is here, and time once again for the Midweek Photo thread!  Get your photos ready to add to the group

Steam ruled the rails of Southern Pennsylvania the past week or so. Two full sized 4-4-0s recreated many moments of history between New Freedom, PA and Hanover Junction.

I rolled into town around 2:00 just as number 17 arrives with the newly delivered coaches at the station in New Freedom.  This day was the recreation of the "Great Locomotive Chase" portion of the Andrews Raid. NCRR 17 is the "General" for the day.

Here comes Leviathan no. 63, stepping in for the "Texas," which chased the Yankees who took charge of the General.

For those who don't already know, these two locomotives were built in the 21st Century.  63 debuted in 2009 and 17 came on line this year.

Time to catch the 3:00 train in action.  Why so late?  You will see.  With mostly single track to run on, 63 needs to get in the clear for 17 to push her cars to the chase area.

There are several crossings along the route so catching the train is not very difficult.

It was very nice that many riders chose to travel in vintage style.  Very fitting of the train trip.

For the most part the light was muted, but some dramatic images just before sunset really lit up the trains.

Now, on with the chase!

Hey!  Come back with our train!  There goes the General...

Don't fret none.  We'll catch it.  Texas to the rescue.

In Chattanooga, TN is the final resting place of all the men involved in the Andrews Raid.

That's my contribution for the week.  How did you do?  Catch any streetcars lately?  Perhaps photos of a subway, or a freight train or just about anything life-size on the real rails of the world.  Feel free to add to the post.  See you next week.

Great photos, Tim! Thanks for posting! The Steam into History staff did a fine job hosting the LEVIATHAN. Here is No. 17 and her combine and coach on Wednesday, November 13, at Hanover Junction.

The flatbed that transports the LEVIATHAN was parked by the track in New Freedom. The smaller flatbed at far right carries her tender.

No. 17 and the LEVIATHAN side by side at Hanover Junction. No. 17 (facing Baltimore) is on the main to Sunbury, PA. No. 63 (facing Gettysburg) is on what remains of that branch. President Lincoln changed trains here on his way to and from Gettysburg for the dedication of the National Cemetery there. More than 51,000 soliders were killed or wounded druing the Battle of Gettysburg (July 1-3, 1863).

Mr. David Kloke built the LEVIATHAN from scratch in 10 years. She was completed in 2009. He built No. 17 in 3 years. She was completed in 2013. The Reader Railroad in Arkansas finished the coach and combine this past summer. When I asked Mr. Kloke to pose for a photo, he insisted we include these charming young ladies.

T Mack, your photo of the SP Coast Line stirred my long-held desire to have run an engine on that route.  I would have loved running the overnight piggyback/merchandise train with 4 GP9's or RS18's back in the day, stretching the train through the sags and running hard to get one siding further for the next meet, pulling up to the heading-in switch in the fog, and counting on the opposing train's Engineer to know right where to find it, too. Thanks for posting.
