The colorful world of the Delaware-Lackawanna Railroad in Scranton, PA.
Some of their smaller power. Left to right, we see RS-3 in a variation of the original Delaware & Hudson markings, then RS32 in a Tishamingo Railway red and C420 no. 405 in Genesee Valley Transportation's Corporate colors of white and gray with black gold and red trim.
New to the line last spring was this C424 purchased from the Adirondack Scenic Railway in New York state.
Noses. Notice the red "Lehigh Valley" flag on the short hood of no. 405
It seems as though the bigger power, the Century line of Alcos and MLWs of the D-L has more active power that doesn't fit the corporate mold. The blue and yellow unit was at one time on the New York and Lake Erie railroad, which chose a Chesapeake & Ohio look.
Another RS3 on the railroad's roster is Central of New Jersey 1554.
The Erie Lackawanna pair of C425s. These were the first road units on the Scranton portion of the railroad.
And Lehigh Valley C420 no. 414 with her authentic flags on the short hood.
These photos are from last spring and summer. I understand a lot of us aren't trackside every week, so maybe it is time to mine your photo galleries for your own gems to share with us. Any photos of the real world are appreciated. See you in February!
