I received some great news in my inbox this morning so I figured I would get the ball rolling on the midweek photo thread.

Our bolsters are in!  For those of you who have been following the restoration of Scranton Transit trolley #505, I am ecstatic to report that the crew at AES has completed fabrication on the new mounts and our replacement bolsters have been bolted into the body shell.

Newly fabricated bolster mounts replace the cast originals:

And the new bolster assemblies join up with the body:

Stay tuned for more news over the next couple months, as the platforms continue to take shape!  We anticipate having the completed shell back in the ECTM shop by mid-summer, where we can get to work on the electrical and plumb the air lines.  Woodwork to follow in the Spring of 2018. Please check out our Facebook page and share our Go Fund Me campaign - every dollar counts!

Anyway, that's my big news - what do you have to share?

This is fantastic news, Montclaire!  With 505  and soon enough, 324 hitting the rails, the core of Scranton streetcars will be on the move!

I was able to catch the Delaware Lackawanna RR snow plow last Thursday.

A little bird told me that the plow train was by Bridge 60 in downtown Scranton.  I drove over around noon to catch the C424 no 2403 and C425 no 2461 fueling up.

The plow dates to 1924, being built for the Canadian Pacific Railway.

We had about 2 feet of snow fall from Monday night to Thursday morning. Thursday, March 16 the plow cleared the 16 or so miles of the Carbondale Line, former Delaware & Hudson.  On Friday, March 17, the plow cleared 66 or so miles of the former Delaware Lackawanna & Western RR, or the Pocono Line.

Tim, sorry I missed the plow but I was probably still digging myself out!  I had drifts up to my waist in the backyard.  Strasburg RR posted a drone video of theirs in action but I could tell that Lancaster Co. did not get as much snow as we did!

324 is still coming along, and there are some other announcements slated for this Spring but I don't want to ruin the surprise.  Stay tuned...
