Hello, and happy Wednesday to one and all.  Spring weather comes to my part of the country a bit later than other parts, but yesterday, the temperature reached 83 degrees.  There was news of a special car coming into town on the freight so a few of us went out to see it.

Here comes the Delaware Lackawanna freight train returning from Portland, PA with cars picked up from the Norfolk Southern Railway.

Power for the train ran the gamut of ALCO / MLW products.  M420 no. 2045 leads C425 no. 2452, C630 no. 3000, C636 no. 3642 and M636 no. 3643

This yellow DME grain car looks like it is an Easter egg... kinda.

Here is the special car.  1954 built US Army hospital car kitchen converted into a baggage car.  This will be delivered to the Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society.

The red oxide primer it was given while at a museum was painted right over the Amtrak markings.  There is both phase 2 and phase 3 striping under the red.

This car will be the ELDCPS power car.  They already have a generator ready to install.  The car is in solid condition, but will take about $50,000.00 to be good looking for adding to the consist of cars the Dining Car society uses.

That is my story for the week.  What do you have to add?  I know a few of the steam engines are running, and there is always freight moving someplace.  If you have any decent shots you want to share, add them to this thread.  Thanks for viewing, and thanks for participating.

Here are mine from today. Just on my commute home from work which passes along side the Macleod Sub which is the mainline south to Lethbridge. A sight for my poor work weary eyes!

I've heard this unit has all new guts and fully updated with new prime mover.

Spotless "Covered Wagon" and is on ballast train duty!

My "new" (to me) Michigan Central oil can posed on the backhead of our 1902 ex MC/DT&I 4-4-2.  I've been using the Santa Fe can I bought when I qualified as an engineer a few years ago, but I've wanted a more local road name one.  This definitely fits the bill since the former Michigan Central mainline to Chicago runs right outside our fence.
