Wednesday morning. We are half way through the workweek, and it's time to celebrate with some photos of railroading in the real world.
We begin at Los Angeles' Union Station. As much as I tried, it is nearly impossible to get that "perfect" shot of the building. The landscaping around the building enhances and yet hides some of her features.
I love this shot of the light rail train coming into the train shed with all the "Los Angeles" signs in a row. Metrolink commuter trains join Amtrak and the MetroRail light rail at this busy depot.
I'm not sure why Union Pacific had this switcher here. I didn't see any freight that close to the station, but it adds a bit of color to the scene.
Two types of Amtrak power.
The control tower at the end of the station platforms.
This unusual scene is not of locomotives. They are cab control cars at the opposite end of the MetroLink trains developed to make the cars safer in case of an impact with another train.
While striking on its own, it doesn't easily blend with the established look of MetroLink.
That's it for me this week. The turnout of photos and videos contributed last week was amazing! Thank you for all your help, and for being out there to capture railroading in its unique way. Enjoy!
