Hello, folks.  Still sheltering in place, and going through a number of old Steamtown USA photos, here are a few looks into the past. I hope that you and everyone you now are staying safe.

SUSA 127 double track

In the mid 1960s through the early 1970s, the steam star at Steamtown in Vermont was former Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 no 1278, which F. Nelson Blount and the crews re-numbered 127 to run both on their regular excursions, and to run off line to exotic locations.  This first image shows her on the high iron with what look like heavy weight cars on double track.  I'm not sure of the location, but the routine Steamtown tracks didn't look this good.

SUSA 127 Edwiil H Brown en route to Chester

Edwin H. Brown caught this train where 127 leads a regular train of coaches en route to Chester, VT.

SUSA 127 Edwill H Brown, Mystic CT

A string of New Haven Railroad cars trailed no. 127 as she pulled into the Mystic, CT station. Also by Edwill H Brown.

SUSA 127 F Nelson Blount

F Nelson Blount sits in the engineer's seat for this photo.

SUSA 127 turntable plow

The turntable at the old Boston & Maine RR yard in North Walpole, VT, which was one of Steamtown's locations in the 1960s.

SUSA 127Passing through singal bridge

Possibly another location on the New Haven, where a branchline and the main would diverge.

That is my contribution for the week.  If you have any photos to share, post 'em if you got 'em.  Stay safe.

A westbound empty oil train passes through Haysville, with an ICE hopper in dedicated buffer service (as denoted by the lettering). I think this train was NS 67Z, which was just abolished since NS lost the contract with the destination refinery to CSX.

Westbound loaded trash train 63V, under the care of an SD70ACe and ET44AC, passes by another YouTube railfan who I ran into that day (before Pennsylvania locked down).

63V had a few new trash containers and liquid bulktainers, both of which are unusual sights for this train.

Four SD40Es lead eastbound local C28 over the crossing, heading for the Island Avenue Yard Allegheny Valley Railroad interchange. As I noted last week, the consist included one of the two SD40Es rebuilt from N&W's SD50S prototypes.

My first SD70ACC rebuild leads the 67Z, with a very loud K5LA.

The video featuring these catches is not up yet, so instead here ae a few from my winter break railfanning.

This CN Crew has stopped trackside to inspect this load of lumber.

Thanks for taking a look & hope to see you out rail-fanning: Gary 🚂
