Hello, folks. Still sheltering in place, and going through a number of old Steamtown USA photos, here are a few looks into the past. I hope that you and everyone you now are staying safe.
In the mid 1960s through the early 1970s, the steam star at Steamtown in Vermont was former Canadian Pacific 4-6-2 no 1278, which F. Nelson Blount and the crews re-numbered 127 to run both on their regular excursions, and to run off line to exotic locations. This first image shows her on the high iron with what look like heavy weight cars on double track. I'm not sure of the location, but the routine Steamtown tracks didn't look this good.
Edwin H. Brown caught this train where 127 leads a regular train of coaches en route to Chester, VT.
A string of New Haven Railroad cars trailed no. 127 as she pulled into the Mystic, CT station. Also by Edwill H Brown.
F Nelson Blount sits in the engineer's seat for this photo.
The turntable at the old Boston & Maine RR yard in North Walpole, VT, which was one of Steamtown's locations in the 1960s.
Possibly another location on the New Haven, where a branchline and the main would diverge.
That is my contribution for the week. If you have any photos to share, post 'em if you got 'em. Stay safe.
