Happy Wednesday, folks! Another reminder for you to get out in the real world to photograph trains you can share with the rest of us in the real world
This past Thursday, I caught some of the luxury level of passenger cars in Scranton, PA. The Erie Lackawanna Dining Car Preservation Society brought their cars to the University of Scranton where they hosted iron crafts preservationists from other parts of the country who were in town for the Arts on Fire Festival last weekend. The upper photo was taken around 8 Pm, and the lower around 9:00. The silver and blue car is sleeper "City of Lima" originally from the Nickel Plate Road, and the silver car with green windows is Lackawanna Diner 469.
Friday Morning, I caught some RS3s rumbling in the Steamtown yard. Delaware Lackawanna owns and operates three RS3 units in the black and gold striping of their original owner, the Delaware & Hudson RR.
Here, one of the units idles next to dead RS3 467, still in Reading olive green.
The bigger units were drilling cars at the same time. For number collectors, the units are 405, a C420 originally from the Lehigh Valley, 2403, a C424 originally from Spokane, Portland and Seattle (in Adirondack Scenic Railway colors), 3642, a C636 originally Penn Central and 3000, an M630 originally from Pacific Great Eastern, in GE colors.
That is my contribution for the week. I need to make a road trip to get some other railroads and colors represented soon. How about you? Do you have special events to show? How about field trip photos? Even your hometown railroad interests us, so if you have anything you want to share, this must be the place! Enjoy your time trackside. See you there!
