Welcome to June, fellow rail-people!  Wednesday begins a new thread to share photos of real size railroading.  This was an unusually lucky week for me.  I don't often catch so many different freight movements in a week, so here we go:

DSC_8639

It was a dark Monday morning, but catching this big power in Scranton, PA cheered me up a bit.  This track is part of the Steamtown National Historic Site, formerly Delaware Lackawanna & Western RR.  The Norfolk Southern brought 80sand cars in the yard Sunday night to give to Delaware Lackawanna.

The "China Wall" is a turn of the 20th Century wall to elevate the tracks from the city streets.  The building by the Union Pacific unit was once Railway Express offices for DL&W trains.  The parking lot in the foreground was once the interurban railway, Lackawanna & Wyoming Valley.

In the afternoon, the units took a break from moving the sand cars around, and posed near Steamtown's boarding platform.

D-L has some big power sitting nearby. They went to work on Tuesday. Tuesday pics in my next thread.  Time for you to look at what you have that you would like to share.  Post them here. See ya.

Tuesday's train.  I was showing a friend around the Steamtown yard, and nothing was moving. No D-L equipment, either.  But we stuck around long enough to catch this train on the "Carbondale branch," which was formerly the Delaware & Hudson RR mainline. This view is from Bridge 60. IMG_0010

It is a long shove to the yard in the South side of Scranton. I lost count of how many cars were on the train. The road crossing is at Scranton Street.

Lead unit is MLW M420 no 2045.

Today, I was walking through town, and along the Lackawanna Ave bridge, caught this light power move on the same track shown above.  The location known as Bridge 60 is where all the grain hoppers are sitting.

C420 no. 414 is still lettered "Lehigh Valley" whereas the two RS3s are in a sort of Delaware & Hudson RR marking.  The red unit is RS32 no. 211.

That is all I have to offer this week.  Thank you for looking, reading and contributing.  Talk to you next week.

A few shots I took out at IRM on Memorial Day.

The ticket booth is now in the Schroeder store, which is also now the museum store, and the first building installed on the new Main Street.

Russian Decapod Frisco #1630, and its Baldwin builder's plates in both Russian and English. It is over 100 years old this year, having been built in February, 1918.

One of the Rock Island's 1920's-era "Al Capone cars". I used to commute on these cars back in the 60's and 70's. They are used in museum passenger service.

Santa Fe H12-44TS #543, which hopefully will find the money necessary for barn shelter and some TLC in the near future. Sitting out in the weather is not helping her. I believe she was used at Dearborn Station (and later, at Union Station) and the Santa Fe coach yards in Chicago.

The Frisco decapod backs down to its train as the Nebraska Zephryr arrives at East Union depot (formerly the C&NW depot at Marengo).

A couple of Chicago Aurora & Elgin interurban cars head west on the museum's mainline.

New Haven EF-4 #4601 in Conrail livery sits on the new barn leads. It is a recent acquisition, and although it will get exterior paint, it will probably never run on the property, like the GG1.

With CN being so power strapped lately, there's been lots of "helpers" on the main line. First, NS AC44C6M 4128 teams up with CN SD75I 5640 and CN C44-9W 2578 pulling a Westbound mixed manifest. Second, ex-UP GECX C40-8W 9124 assists CN SD70M-2's 8917 and 8853 with another Westbound mixed manifest.

In case folks are wondering why they're call "Al Capone" cars.  It's how Al was delivered to the Rock...

1934 INMATES ON TRAIN TO ISLAND

Speaking of the EF-4, 4601 was the Conrail Number, it's NH number was 300.  Won't she be pretty when done?

I love this photo, Tim.  Great catch in that rock cut near Bridge 60!  Nothing like seeing 4 still-active ALCo’s in the same consist, especially in two “Fallen Flag” original (as-delivered) paint schemes!

611 at Manassas.  Wow, it was two years ago already?

I agree, this was my final encounter with 611, 6/4/2016. This was the day when it was sunny west of Linden, VA., on the top of the Blue Ridge, and it was overcast east of Linden with low scuzzy clouds. I should have spent more time west of Linden.
Here are a couple of images from that day, in both color and B&W.
Also a brief video when I didn't beat it to Marshall.
