Hello, all. It's Wednesday and time for our weekly "Real Trains" forum photo thread.

Continuing with more photos taken during my recent visit to the Whippany Railway Museum in Whippany, NJ, the museum's display tracks contain a number of cabooses from eastern roads which have been nicely restored to past schemes:

Looking forward to seeing what you have.

This thread is off to a good start.  I am a bit late in taking part. But we'll pick up with the NRHS RailCamp where last week left off.

Every movement at the Strasburg Rail Road is a treat.  The boys caught this move of GP9 764 pushing 4-8-0 no. 475 back into the shed.

Then, they all stood on the running board to get this group photo taken.  The man in orange on the left is Tony White, who is the coordinator of RailCamp.

More to come...

Friday of RailCamp was a return to the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania, so the boys can give presentations on their chosen steam engines.

But first, let me take a selfie... Actually they were just getting in place, when all of their phones came my way to get photos of the crew on the side of PRR    4-4-2 no. 7002.

First group gave a description of the history of Nickel Plate Road 2-8-4 no. 757.

The second group chose the AEM7 no. 915.  Their approach was to walk us through the history of electric locomotives, including a GG1 and the E60.

The third group gave a history of the Shay locomotive, explaining the need for geared engines.

And the speedster 7002 program by the fourth group.  That ends the educational part of their program.

Now, for some fun.  Coming up in the next post.

Back to the Strasburg Railroad they go.  Some chose to ride the passenger train behind no. 90, a 2-10-0, while others hopped a freight with the GP9.

Smoking is only permitted behind the train shed.  No. 475 is getting some adjustments before going to work.

Here is our freight train.  One coach acting as caboose.  Two freight cars going to the NS interchange on Amtrak's Keystone corridor.

At Leaman Place, we meet no. 90 and her train.  Below is the other group of guys aboard the train.

Still more on the way.

Now for the cab tours and rides.

DSC_2665

They are breaking up into small groups to gain fair access to the cab of 475.

DSC_2674

First, a photo op, as 475 needs a bit more coal.

She's a beauty, Clark.

Waiting patiently for the next group to get on board.

And then, we were photo-bombed by GW 90, returning from another run to Leaman Place.

This is the 5:00 excursion returning to the station.  We are outside the Red Caboose Motel and Restaurant waiting to be seated.

And the 7:00 train returning.  Shadows are getting longer.  RailCamp East is ending for 2016.

Some of the artwork left by the boys as they head for home on Saturday.  RailCamp West 2016 begins this coming Sunday in Tacoma, WA.  I will not be there, but if anyone does go, please add to the Midweek Photo thread.  Have a great week, everyone.
