Welcome one and all to Midweek Photos. Seven months of 2013 are coming to a close and I hope that at least some of that time you spent in a photo line trackside to capture parts of the real world of railroading. This week I return to a photo charter on the New Hope & Ivyland RR in May. This is the crowd scene at the New Hope station after the lunch break.
The image they were capturing at that time. Lancaster & Chester RR no. 40. This is one of the former railroads that owned this Baldwin 2-8-0.
Hitting the road, we staged several runbys near the farm fields south of the usual turn-around location of Lahaska, PA.
This location is just a few yards south of the last one.
Behind us is a golf course. Behind the train is a nursery of sorts for cultivating plants.
Hew Hope has an interesting variety of freight cars to run the occasional photo freight train.
Our last location and set of runbys was at this field, which served as our first location that day when the sun rose over the hill. The 1940s-era tractor was part of the planning of the photo stop.
The interesting framing of the trees and the farm road was shared by only 3 or 4 of us. Most of the gang stayed at the crossing.
Where have you gone lately? Have you taken any historic excursions, chased a museum train or followed a heritage unit freight train? If you have any views you like enough, please share them here. I'll check back with you in August.
