Here we are at Wednesday, and late in Wednesday already!  The day is nearly over, and so is the week!  I hope everyone had a great holiday week or weekend.  I also hope some of you took the time off to enjoy fun, family and railroading.  Since this is the peak season of tourism, most railroads had some excursion service offered.  Above, we see the Electric City Trolley Station & Museum brought out Philadelphia Suburban car 80.  This has more seating capacity than car 76. Perfect for last minute arrivers.

Steamtown in Scranton brought their excursion riders to Olyphant, PA, a town on the former Delaware & Hudson RR line.

A tour of the history of the town kept up the patriotic feel of the weekend as the group passed the American Legion building.

Sunday, July 6, the Nay Aug Gorge Limited train ran 4 trips to Nay Aug Park where riders could view the scenic nature of the rock formation in the gorge.

I now hand the thread over to you.  Please add any pictures you have of the real world of railroading.  More variety is always welcome.  Have a great week!

The Reading & Northern ran The Mountain Top Rotary [Club] Steam Excursion between Penobscot, PA (southeast of Wilkes-Barre), and Jim Thorpe on Saturday, July 5. "The Four-and-a-Quarter" put on a great show with trucks and piston valves rebuilt at Strasburg. Here is the first RBM&N private car (rebuilt from a DL&W "Edison" coach) during runaround moves in Jim Thorpe. Later the RBM&N obtained a private car with 6-wheel trucks built for Jay Gould's daughter from a restaurant at the former Jersey Central station in Wilkes-Barre.

Here's something you don't see every day - a private car being turned for the return trip.

Then No. 425 was turned.

Cool pics,  I would like to go to Steam town some day, maybe after retirement.  Round table looks neat too ReadingFan.  All I have this week is of some cars left on a siding south side of Lincoln  and a Santa, Fe GP-39 waiting at the Amtrak station.  One car caught my attention, Apalachicola Northern boxcar.  Never heard of that RR.  I did do some research on it, also in the group of cars where two old North Western hoppers.    Nick

Some shots of new RR construction to service a new grain receiving and shipping elevator.  First is the new elevator under construction.  Second is the current grade crossing highway 81 25 miles n. of Norfolk Ne.  Was Burlington, then leased out maybe now to return.  Line goes from Sioux City Ia. to ONeill Ne.  Third is the new grade under way, curving off the main line and around the elevator.  Fourth is the new grade going to the loading chute off the elevator.  The tall silver thing in the back of the elevator will be the high capacity grain dryer.  More as construction continues.

July, 7, 2014, A BNSF iron ore train has just departed Dupo, IL on UP's Chester Sub. This is an unusual move as the ore train usually take an all BNSF route and use the parallel BNSF River Sub across the Mississippi River. It will regain BNSF rail at Rockview .MO, about 130 miles south. The train originates in Minnesota and is destine for the steel mills in Birmingham, AL.
