Happy Wednesday, one and all! Time to relax and share some photos we have taken recently of the real world of railroading. Summer is escaping us too quickly, but we can enjoy every railroad portion of it right here.
The Steamtown National Historic Site in Scranton is nearing completion on the full teardown and rebuild of Baldwin 26 to operation. In the meantime, the excursions out of Scranton still need to run. Delaware Lackawanna Railroad is providing diesel power for the trains.
Many of the excursions have featured a different unit for the trains. On Saturday, August 15, the power was C420 414, still painted in the Lehigh Valley Yellow Jacket markings.
On the boarding platform in Scranton, you can also catch the trolley going to Moosic, PA.
Engine crew for the train to Moscow is Aaron Stout on the left, and Tom Skrutski on the right.
This locomotive was restored several years ago, and still possesses the huge metal LV flag on the short hood.
Scranton's Jazz Festival weekend was taking place, so the beer trucks and tents were near the tracks at the Lackawanna Station Hotel.
And off they go. That is my contribution for the week! Please share some of your pictures.
