Wednesday has returned, and with it, another chance to share some of our photos of the railroad world as we know it.  Come along for the chase!

This past Saturday was the annual run of the Heritage Explorer Train, run between Scranton, PA and Carbondale, PA for the festival in Carbondale. This train has been diesel-led since it began running around 10 years ago.  It was yet another beautiful summer day for a train ride.

Power for the train is C424 number 2403 from the Delaware Lackawanna Railroad.  The colors she wears are from when she was on the Adirondack Scenic Railroad in New York.

Some of the interesting people waiting to board.  The Victorian ladies are not part of an organization. They just dress like this for the day.

All Aboard!

Now, to back through the Steamtown yard to reach the old Delaware & Hudson Railroad mainline.  With the train delayed, I could not get any chase photos in before going to my next work assignment.  My next shots are of her return to Scranton.

Coming back to Scranton, the train runs through the Pine Brook section of town, just outside of the downtown. Here, she crosses Olive St.

Climbing up the Strawberry Hill line to connect with Steamtown. The D&H line is in the foreground.

Sunday, August 23, Steamtown had a train run to the town of Cresco, PA in the Poconos.

Two locomotives are needed for this train, since the track for re-positioning the train in Cresco is a long siding instead of a run-around track.

Coming into the platform.

Tom Shore is the engineer this time around.

Very pretty.  Plus, another splendid day.

Our arrival at Cresco.  Super elevated curves at the 1883 built depot.

Kendrick Bissett operated G-gauge live steam trains during the layover.

Food was available for the hungry.

Ted Satterthwaite crooned many popular tunes while there was always an audience listening.

Inside the station.  A re-created general store is inside the baggage room.

Ready for the run back to Scranton, the train pulls into the station.

2452 is a C425 built for the Erie Lackawanna, also provided to Steamtown by the Delaware Lackawanna RR.

A fellow at work who lives in the great and wondrous state of West Virginia told me you folks had a bit of a bad break. He said there was a very bad fire at the governors residence, The fire burnt the building right down to the axels.   I started to think he was living in a private RR car, he said no, the state could not afford extravagant lifestyles , it was just your average Winnebago.
