Wow, that seems like a lengthy train. How many cars are in the average D&S train?
Labor Day, 2015. I arrived at Steamtown early enough to catch the morning light on the two Nickel Plate Berkshires in Scranton. 765 would lead an excursion train to East Stroudsburg this day.
Boarding time on the Delaware-Lackawanna Pocono Line.
Same place, but the other side of the rails.
Checking down the track.
We are under way! This is the Dover Harbor Pullman car.
In East Stroudsburg. The Santa Fe style water tower still stands. This was a large railroad yard in the days of steam.
The train is off to Slateford Junction and Portland to turn around.
Coming back from Portland, PA on the Delaware River, the Berk is coming back into East Stroudsburg.
A couple of kids decided to get in a race with the train, since it was coming in so slowly.
The westbound crew taking over the train.
Some friends we found on the trip.
Back in Scranton.
These photos were taken Saturday, September 12th by a friend of mine and posted with his permission.
While in Bellevue today after visiting the Willard Train Fest caught NS 146 with these in tow. Contractors Cargo Co is based in Compton CA and specialize in rather odd movements of goods in the transportation industry.
Dang, I need to get out and take some pictures, been a while since I posted to one of these threads.
Tuesday evening, September 15, I took Amtrak 196 from Baltimore up to Newark, NJ. Here's two photos as 196 arrives as the Crescent departs.
The purpose of the trip was to take a ride the next day from Newark to Charlottesville, VA on private car Mount Vernon. That ride will get its own thread.
Our favorite Berkshire returning from a wye to East Stroudsburg on Labor Day, framed through windows of East Stroudsburg Tower, open for us.
As Tim O'Malley posted, she was moving slowly. I aimed through the open window below and got a "rods down" pose
East Stroudsburg Tower and No. 765 side by side
Great shots taken this week guys. Sorry but I have not taken any photos the past 2 weeks. We need to go out soon. And I have done very little on the layout

CP 235
NS 260 turning it's power
CP T28 running light to Canada
NS 260 in the clear, heading back to Oakwood

I had to drop my roommate off at the train station this evening and this happened to be on the head-end
CN 385 with another blue BC Rail Dash 9
NS 121. I bet the crew wasn't happy about this arrangement
CN 533
Another long hood forward train out of Conrail North Yard
I was hoping to put up a few photos on Wednesday, but I ended up chasing trains again that night. Better late than never, I guess. It's still threshing bee season and I have one more to go to this weekend. I love the steam tractors! I call them "little steam." Night is getting earlier, and the D&I continues to run trains after dark. Trains during week nights and steam threshing on the weekends. Is this the best time of year or what?
1. Plowing with a Case plow engine at Andover, SD. A classic shot!
2. Spark show at Andover. The tractor is hooked up to a load and dry sawdust is shoveled into the firebox as the throttle is thrown wide open.
3. I hitched a ride on the plow platform.
4. D&I passes by a corn field south of Hawarden, IA.
5. D&I s/b past the east end of the Canton SD elevator complex.
This might have to do for now. I need to go to bed so I can get up tomorrow morning.
Kent in SD
