Greetings! I am reporting from the road this week. I drove out to Illinois to ride the Nickel Plate Road 765 to LaSalle St Station in Chicago. The steamer pulled into the depot head first. Since most of my pics from the weekend are on the camera and not the phone, my post this week will be short.

I also took the chance to visit the Pullman National Monument in Chicago. This is one view of the “Clock Tower” building which is part of the car erecting shop. This portion is expected to open in 2020.

That is my contribution to the week. As always, feel free to add your pics to the thread. More will be posted when I get home.

Our small 4-4-0 "Edison" polished and fired up to run for the last time in 2018 last weekend.  Our 1897 Baldwin 4-4-0 has a couple more weeks of operation before our 1873 Mason 0-6-4T "Torch Lake" is fired up for the month of October to wrap up our 2018 operating season.

Giving it another shot at posting some of these pictures.  I ave up after several attempts last week.  I get the photos slowly uploaded, only to have the wi-fi connection to the Internet kick out.

My sweet ride for the Joliet Rocket, the Silver Lariat.

Dome Class.  Sadly, there was no time to clean the train consist and it's windows from the journey that began in California, and would end in Akron, OH. This car and three others that travel with it will become part of the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad after these trips end.

Arrival in Chicago at LaSalle Street Station.  We were so far back, you can't see the station (built in the 1980s) from this location.

Here is our girl!  Nickel Plate no. 765.  Now with the two headlights.

There were supposed to be two Rock Island E units on display, but they were not in good condition to travel (from what I heard.)  The E 6 and E 8 were not on hand, but Metra has this "heritage" unit that I had not seen before.

After a very slow roll run-by, the steamer sits for a bit.  Time for boarding for the return trip to Joliet.
