A friend informed me that additional tickets had to be printed on Saturday, mid-day, as so many showed up "off the street". Large number of vendors, wide array of products, but, as noted, I was quite surprised to see much less brass was for sale. Clearly things in O Scale are going "plastic". And O Scale by no means is fading away!
Mike Hill's Saturday afternoon presentation on his life experiences with steam was a real highlight, as were some of the anecdotes shared by a few of the master builders (particularly the 1947 tale of the streamlined Milwaukee 4-6-0 putting along at 35 MPH with the North Woods Hiawatha, to be follwed by a transfer to the mainline at New Lisbon, Wi, where an F7 Hiawatha Hudson took over, and ripped along at 100 mph+. Wonderful memories. Mike had his magnificent collection of of O Scale Hudsons, predominately NYC and B&A, but augmented by 4 CB&Q S4's (streamlined, de-streamlined, oil-burning and conventional as built), plus Wabash, C&O, CNR, CPR, NKP, CMStP&P, C&NW, Lackawanna, and Frisco examples. Viewing these beautiful models reinforced the exquisite symmetry of steam locomotives and the rich variety the railroads of North America offered.
Thanks to all who worked to make this show great and to Mike Hill and family for their efforts in continuing to lead the show.
