This is a first for me to see all the loaded Military cars in Nashua NH. I could not see the begin or end to this train. I am guessing it has to be over 100 cars just sitting across from where I work.

Anyone have any idea why there would be a loaded military train sitting in Nashua NH?  Too bad I did not see any tanks or big guns!

National Guard was my first guess for the reasons you mentioned. However the Humvees have snorkels on them which means they're Marine Corps (unless things have changed since I left the Army). Probably Marine Corps Reserves.

Almost certainly a communications unit.

Looks like a Forward Support Battallion or maybe a Signal Company.
Those trailers with the satellite dishes are for communications.

Nope. Those are definitely army trucks.

The snorkels are because National Guard units are expected to respond to flooding emergencies.

Today I got a chance to talk to one of the railroad employees, he did not offer a lot of info but he did say that all he knew was that there are some new and some rebuilt equipment for the National Guard.  He would not tell me where the train was headed.

Maybe the government is getting ready for the Zombie attack or a Comet strike lol.

I can verify the Guard has multiple units here in NH.

My niece is in one, she just did her month active last month.

They are a Transportation group and they drove down to Georgia and hauled fuel for 3 weeks, then drove back home.

Oh, She's qualified to drive everything in the pictures plus Tankers.

I find it funny, she's a short blonde thing and drives these massive trucks...

Those are fun to drive! Got to drive one around a couple of times at Ft. Irwin. Almost as fun as driving an Abrams. Almost.

Wish I could make out the unit markings on this one...

Army vehicles, no question.

And this is a HMMTT PLS (palletized loading system)

Sure wish i could identify the load its carrying.

Nice catch, Rich ...... very cool train. I would catch trains going into and out of NJ's Fort Dix once in a while.

Russell ...

My short, skinny, blonde niece is a helicopter mechanic in the Guard here in NJ. Next month she leaves for a month at Ft Hood, then deploys for at least 11 months to Kosovo.

Proud of our neices, Russell.

Don't judge a book by its cover! I once saw a female MP who was maybe 5'7" put a 6'2" Army Ranger on the ground without breaking a sweat. It's also been my experience that on average women are much better shots then men. Take 100 women and 100 men who have never fired a rifle before and I'd be willing to wager a very large sum of money that after a couple of days more women will earn their Expert badge then men.
