ok this unit seems to draw considerable current compared to almost all other trains I own steam or diesel including my amtrak set of RDC budd cars. I'm running 2 mth z1000 transformers on seperate loops. they train has been cleaned oiled and new brushes installed. It has horn/bell/magnatraction .I have noted that the couplers are droopy and am considering checking the pilot guide tang to see if it has been bent but that doesnt explain its power hungry nature

I ran the new 2338, at 13 volts pulling four postwar cars, drew 2.1 to 2.3 amps. A postwar 2338 at 13 volts drew 2.5 amps, at 15 volts drew 2.7 amps. A postwar PRR 2328 at 13 volts drew 2.5 amps, 15 volts drew 2.6 amps. All locos were serviced in the past six months. All run well, except for the postwar E unit buzz and all were pulling four postwar cars, one of which was a lighted N5c. FWIW
