mobile gantry crane instructions

Hello all,
   Can someone give me detailed instructions on how to make my gantry crane mobile, I.e. forward & backward.
    I would like to know which motor to use, how to connect the threaded rod & how to power the crane.

I think this old forum post will have all the information you will need to get started.

As an aside, if you use Gargraves track, Ross Custom Switches makes a special 29" long track designed to work with the gantry crane.
