Maybe it's because this is my 1st locomotive with whistle steam.

Maybe it's because this is my 1st Legacy locomotive,

Maybe it's because this locomotive is a NY Central Ten Wheeler and my long term goal is to add trains and features to my layout so it is more and more reminiscent of The Put.

Maybe it's because I love the looks, the sounds and the way this locomotive fills my basement with smoke (Hot Chocolate Scented Lionel Premium Smoke Fluid).

Oh, how sweet it is:

Do you have something in your train collection or on your layout that makes you feel you are in model railroad heaven? If so, you can share it here.

Wonderful videos Arnold!!  Btw - upon re-entering the hobby 18 years ago, my very first MTH engine was the steam turbine .... that engine kept me mesmerized for many hours!

I love the whistle sound of your new NYC steamer!  Your layout looks very fun to me.  The Plasticville structures are very well placed on your layout and to me personally they beckon a nostalgic reaction from when I was a kid playing with my Lionel layout each Christmas.... I so loved my Plasticville houses, switch tower, station and freight station. Whenever I played with my trains then, I too was in model railroad Heaven!  There was always something so magical when running train back then.  I sometimes experience this as an adult, however, not always.  After watching your video ( several times I might add )   I understand why you find yourself in model railroad Heaven.  Thanks for allowing me to experience a bit of your Heaven!

Though my current layout is undergoing serious alterations, I still feel as if I am in "Heaven" when I go back to photos of earlier iterations  of the same layout. Here is a link to a You Tube that my son, Chris, took of a ride in a passenger coach around our layout. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RXWcvnSzFec

Another video is during the night, taken from the section of our layout called Ghost Train Park and is entitled "Action on the Main Line". https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tBgaFmSSSbc

These videos and many photos that I have taken in the past inspire me to continue on the slow process of massive layout revisions and transport me to model railroading Heaven.

Hard to beat that Lionel F12 NYC 4-6-0; I have one of the earlier, high-headlight (both are accurate) TMCC versions. It runs great, but is "4-chuff-challenged". Very accurate models. I like your layout; reminds me of the way I thought mine looked in the 50's (it didn't).

The chocolate smoke and the "chuffing turbine" ....dunno about all that, now....

D500, if you were visiting my layout, I would use coffee scented smoke fluid instead of hot chocolate scented. LOL

Gregg, howdy neighbor!

Larry, I also greatly admire your magnificent layout. Model railroading heaven for me includes MTH Proto 3, top of the line Lionel Postwar including the 773 Hudson and others, a few of my favorite LC+, as well as my one and only Legacy (the 10 wheeler with whistle steam).

The 10 wheeler was about $700, which is a lot of money for me to pay for an 0 Gauge locomotive. However, I'm glad I bought it because smoke is my favorite feature, I love whistle steam, and I have not yet seen an engine with it that costs any less. As a result, I feel like I got a good deal when I bought it.

Michael, isn't it great that we can see videos on this Forum of gorgeous trains running on gorgeous layouts throughout the USA and even in other countries?

How the heck does a turbine chuff?  You must have changed the sound file.

Alan, I may have had the MTH Proto 2 Turbine serviced by a very good train repairman who may have replaced the circuit board for the sounds. That may explain why it chuffs. However, I'm still fine with it because it runs and smokes very well and it sounds like a steam engine to me.

Yep! Isn't it great to see all these wonderful layouts? I think everyone has a mental image of their layouts from long ago, and even now, that may be different than the actual item. As long as you're enjoying it and having fun that is all that matters!

Arnold, I too prefer the chuffing. My Railking Imperial hisses all around my Circle Line (just figuratively speaking. I’m still a child of NYC).  Even though I’ve gotten used to it it still doesn’t seem right. It is however a beautiful model and I look (listen) the other way.
