Modeling a 1/48th scale 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air

1954 CHEVROLET BEL AIR Sedan prototype

I am in the process of building various examples of 1/48th scale automobiles for O scale model railroading. My first attempt is a 1954 Chevrolet Bel Air coupe. Because I have limited model making resources my objective is to produce a near proportional model with very basic details.

I am exploring the possibility of producing multiple copies using either epoxy or plaster of Paris molding. The example model shown could be used for such molding purposes. The 1/48th scale model is designed as a generic basic one piece body.  The front grille and bumper, rear bumper and left and right side rear fenders are designed as separate components. The photos show only the basic body. Add-on front, rear and side details not shown.

Looking for ideas on making rubber molds for casting purposes.

What is the material being used for the car, clay or something else?

This model is made from wood.  It needs to be sturdy enough so that it could be used to make rubber molds. For molding purposes all surfaces would need to be sealed. For this model the casting would be done in two halves (left and right sides of the model).
