Modeling the CPOX 820 20-axle Schnabel car in O scale
This 20 axle schnabel car is owned by TTS Leasing. It has a capacity of 980,000 pounds and provides both vertical and horizontal shifting capability. The prototype was originally owned by Consumers Energy.

An O scale model of this car has been constructed. The model uses 10 pairs of Rollerbearing trucks to distribute the load. The over all length of the model (without load attached) is 31 inches (124 scale feet). The bolsters are articulated allowing improved tracking. Not all details shown including railings and steps which need to be added.
This model also has a scale 8 foot offset pivot point that allows the load to be shifted side to side like the prototype.
