I am wondering if anyone can recommend some pre-assembled or easy to assemble "modern" industrial / city / transport building structures for my O scale layout.

I am a new / novice railroader and don't really have time or skill to build much of my own scenery.  I would just like some buildings that my son and I can run our trains around.  For various reasons, we have decided on a "modern" (post 1960) industrial / city theme for our layout.  I have browsing on-line to find structures (Lionel, MTH, etc.) but most everything that is available has either a country / rural look or a 1930-1960 era design (more charm I guess).  The closest things I could find were an MTH Freight Depot, MTH bus station, and the Lionel Amtrak shelter (I know those are small, but is that thing really to scale?).  Can anybody recommend some post 1960 style structures for stations, depots, warehouses, utility buildings, etc?  Otherwise, I am going to start cutting up shoes boxes and painting them (maybe that will be more fun for my son and I anyway).  Thanks.

Thanks for the quick response!

This is very helpful.

I should say that I am also new to the forum, so I just started looking around archived posts and found some other suggestions.

Scale and detail are not such a big concern for me since I don't think I will ever be a true 'modeler'- some of the layouts that I have seen on this forum so far are spectacular.

I just want to run some trains.

I could probably glue some walls together and the Pecos River website seems to have just the structures I was thinking of.

I guess another option would to be to find some modern building structure template designs, print to card stock, glue to foam and assemble.

Not detailed oriented, but I'm not that good with a paintbrush either.

Does anybody know of a source of O scale, printable templates for modern design buildings?
