Since I am running O27 track and turnouts I sometimes find myself trying to guess if a new locomotive is suitable for my layout. Found the Lionel Torpedo for sale (see pic) and was wondering if anyone knows if the new era Torpedo will work on O27. I have been told that the old prewar ones did just fine. Anyone have any experience on the new ones.

You should not have any problems since it is a 1668e. These were classified as 027 engines.

If my eyes are not deceiving me the box says it is from the original moulds so you should not have a problem.

You can pick up a nice restored vintage piece with whistle tender at a price that's reasonable. It's a matter of shopping wisely with a reputable seller. I own three, two of which are C-9 originals with boxes. They are out there..You Betcha!
