It has been 7 months since I retired, after 33 years in law enforcement. I love it! I love being a housewife, cook and bottle-washer. I love doing cleaning and house projects. I have started building my layout and have time to work on some of my other hobbies such as photography. And...what do I like best? I am going on a lot more dates with my wife! Many of those outings involve trains. Two weeks ago we rode the (Christmas) Train of Lights in Niles Canyon. On Saturday night we followed another one of my passions...wine! We rode the Napa Valley Wine Train "Moonlight Escape" Dinner Train. We live only about an hour away from Wine Country and have taken the Wine Train many times during the day, on their lunch runs. We have never gone on their dinner trains. It was a delight! We had reservations on the Champagne Vista Dome Car. It included complimentary champagne with the dinner. Our dinner menu included:
Hors D'Oeuvres: Smoked Salmon Crepes and Rabbit Confit
First Course: Lobster Bisque
Entree: Roasted Beef Tenderloin
Desserts: Espresso Creme Brulee and Chocolate Pot Pie
We had Cabernet and Merlot with dinner.
After dinner, we walked thru the train. We saw their three gourmet kitchens and tasted 8 different wines at one of the tasting bars. The ride goes from Napa to St. Helena and back. It was a great trip...and...if one visits California and the Wine Country...it's highly recommended.
I was not able to get any good pics of those wonderful Alco locomotives. I was only able to get a few outside pics of the cars as we boarded. I got some pics of the station and the interiors of some of the cars.
