That's cool! That's not the Menards building I saw in the store. Where'd you get that?
I also see your BNSF engines. What kind are those and who makes them?
I started with the Menards Morton Salt Factory. I then scratch built and kit bashed with some old buildings I had. All my locomotives are MTH.
Great job! Looks fantastic.
Thanks
Glenn : All I can say is WOW !!!! Great job on everything... I just wish I had the foot print to do something like this.. hummmm.. Being the Mayor of Menardsville, I should look into this.. .. Thanks for sharing.. Bob
Thank you Bob
Glenn, great job on the kit bash! Really looks nice!
Glenn: may I ask what brand and color you used for the blue please ? Thanks..Bob
This color is safety blue . Bought it at Home Depot. Got the color from another OGR members post, he used it for his silos.

Thanks Mike. This is a good way to spend a winter in Colorado.
WOW Glenn, You have me pumped up! Can you post more pictures? IT'S GREAT !!
Glenn, completely blown away with the job you did! It was a great looking building to begin with but you've put it in a different dimension entirely! Wonderful modeling!
Glenn, terrific job, so good no one else has posted.
Mike,
Yes. My Layout is 12 x 20 on 3 Levels. Two mains on both the 1st and 2nd, and a city on the third with one loop (and street running).
Allan if you don't mind I am going to drop you an E-mail!

That is fantastic! The great thing about this form is that you can see what other people do and get good ideas to use on your layout.
Another great looking building! Glenn is right, this is a great forum!
Geez, you guys and your Morton Salt buildings are killing me! They are terrific! I'm leaving mine in the box it came in! LOL

You did a great job with this, Glenn!
Kudos on the fine job Glenn. Where'd you get the Morton Salt sign on your building?
Paul the Menard's Morton Salt building was a perfect addition to the existing Morton plant on the NJHR layout.

Glenn - I found it on eBay. I just checked online and saw several, including one like mine. Just go to O-Scale for the category and search for Morton Salt.

This was one of the inserts that came with Menards billboard.
Glenn,
Thank you for posting !! Wow !! That is great work. I just got my building today. You have really enhanced the building. You have inspired me to do something else with mine. The pictures and paint suggestions are big help. If you have more pictures of your work on the complex would you mind posting them. We can learn a lot for your wonderful work. Please post more as you continue.
It appears that you separated the building from the base, did you?
How did you do that?
I had to make room and found a place on my small switching layout, but would like to add buildings like you did.
Thanks for your posting.
Tom

No it's not separated from the structure my yard is made out of 1/8 inch MDF and it butts right up against the base of the factory.

You know Glenn, looking around your layout in the pictures, I started thinking you might be an alter ego to Cabinet Bob! You both have a large load of Menards Buildings! Just sayin! LOL
Looks great either way!

Cabinet Bob is a great ambassador for Menards. He inspires a lot model railroaders, myself included.
Paul,
Your Morton Salt complex is really nice. Could you post more pictures of what you did? How did you make the other structures? Did you remove the Menard's base from the Salt Factory? or just modify it?
Lucky to have Paul and Glenn post their wonderful work on this great forum.
Really great work Paul.
Thanks
Tom

Glenn, I agree about Cabinet Bob! I am happy to call him a friend! Met him here is Seattle for the LCCA convention and sale. Great guy in person as he is on line! HI DAD!
Looking at this I am thinking Menards could make add ons to their factorys that we could use depending on space. Just woundering?

Sure Tom, will post more pics soon. I did not work on this structure. This was a team effort by other NJ Hirailers club members and they deserve the credit.
Glenn
you really did an awesome job with this. The only thing I would like to learn more about is lighting the building. Can you share what components you used to do the lighting? LED’s obviously, but did you use a transformer of some sort?
