I Have a 4-0 engine. Frosty the snowman. Some way the mother board got fried. The engine runs, but there is no sounds at all and no smoke. Can I replace it with one out of another unit even if its no say a Christmas engine, as long as its Lion Chief and a 4-0 engine. My be Lionel will be open tomorrow and I can call them. Doug

The Santa Freight 6-84788 is the same engine, could I get that mother board and install it?? I would think they are all plug in...
Yes the part listed is via Lionel Support. Frosty the Snowman LionChief Christmas Loco only #321 (lionelsupport.com)
You could put in another LionChief board but - Your Frosty remote isn't going to work anymore. You'd also have to buy the Orange Universal LionChief remote. Probably not worth it.
During repairs I highly recommend the same board unless unavailable, then the search for an alternative happens.
I did a search for the item number 6-84788 you listed, but didn't come up with anything.

Well, he did say “available at Lionel”. And it let me add that part number to my cart on their support site.
