Can't recall the thread, but a while back, some folks posted alternative motive power options that would look good pulling the California Zephyr passenger cars. I think at least nine or two alternatives had similar mirror and yellow/gold paint schemes. Wish I could find that thread! Just exploring possible options ...

Since the CZ operated over three different railroads, i.e. the CB&Q (out of Chicago), then the D&RGW (out of Denver), and finally the WP (out of Salt Lake City and into Oakland), one could use sets of F Units from the D&RGW or the WP. The CB&Q used E Units, except for the first year of operation.

While I don't have the CZ cars, I do have the inherited Amtrak cars from the CZ. I plan on pulling the 14 car set with these.....

Sounds like you're not too familiar with the search function. To use it efficiently requires knowing more than just "CZ" or "F unit," as I learned before posting, or it pulls up many threads with myriad posts.
