Motor for 6-31757, 736 from 2007

Luke I'm curious, what's the gear ratio of your loco?  (I guess I never realized they changed things from the earlier reissues.)

 

Can you make the motor on the 31757 turn by turning the wheels?  If so, you can determine the gear ratio by counting the poles as they pass by, then divide by 3.  Please post what you found out.

 

 

The parts lists for both locomotives list the motor in stock. Lionel lists the same motor for both locomotives, so the gear on the motors should be the same. The worm gear in the two frames may be a different diameter, but the motors should fit either frame.

They don't .I even had Lionel look for one with the right worm because they
still have the chassis from the 736. Probably built out of different
tooling due to Chinese factories closing

I obtained the 736 chassis from Lionel because one of my customers had
bought the 726 and it didn't have magnetraction . We never thought the chassis
and motors would be different, but they are .
