OK, here's the reason for the western trip. A week of steam photo charters in the pacific northwest. For the first day, we found our intrepid group at the Mount Rainier Scenic Railroad in Elbe, WA with Hammond Lumber Company 2-8-2T #17 and the only operational Willamette, Rayonier #2. By the way, for those curious, #2 was built by the Willamette Iron & Steel Works, using the Shay design after the Lima patent expired.
