I like the MPC era trains. mine continue to run reliably after 40-50 yrs what more can be asked? (so you can install an inexpensive horn or bell board or snip the leads to the 'mighty sound of steam. no harm, no foul. I agree that the era was a watershed and believe the Fundimensions/MPC did well in learning and then responding to the needs and wants of a wide range of interests. Similar to those that have appeared in the popular magazines of the then surviving Lionel (Hillside) engineering, manufacturing, sales and management team, I would be interested in reading interviews of the MPC era team to hear their insights on this important, often overlooked era.
I'd love to read a deep dive into the 70s and 80s era. So much has been published about the pre and post war eras. I'd love to learn more about the General Mills days.
