Hello I am new to this forum and would like some information about the MRC 1815 sound only decoder. I am planing on putting it in a Bachmann Williams FA-1AA and would like to know if I could put it in the dummy. Also what transformers are good to use with it. I have a MRC 027, MTH 750 and Lionel CW-80 which it seems to work the best in slow speed operation when I make the installation I would like to convert the motors to  series and would like some info on that as well. Someone had mentioned to me that if you do not have a non chopped sign wave trans former it would damage the sound decoder. I would appreciate any guidance on this. Thanks

Hi Nick,, welcome to the forum!  There have been several threads on  the MRC sound decoder, try a search and see what you find.

Here is one that I found.  I have installed them in the dummy unit.  You need to make sure that the dummy unit has a center rail pickup (for a light, perhaps) in order to power the speaker. Also, a baffle is helpful to help with thr sound.   hope this helps.  Dave
