Me and a few friends set up at the Mt. Hope Train Show last weekend.  A large building filled to the gills with tables and folks selling.  The crowds were consistent through most of the day but as expected died off towards the close.  While I didn't break any records selling, we all managed to lighten our loads a bit.  Saw a few familiar faces, Dave and Andy,  from the Pittsburgh Independent Hi-Railers.  They are getting ready for their Kennywood Park gig.  Make sure you say hi if you visit.   All in all a good day for trains.  I was hoping to sell more but did ok.

We always go to the Mt. Hope show as it is an easy drive from Pittsburgh, and we get to see dealers we don't get to see at our local shows.  Both of us found some treasures to take home.

On a side note, this show is not far from the Ernest Warther Museum.  Anyone who likes steam locomotives should visit this museum.  Ernest Warther hand carved many different models of locomotives and some rolling stock, and they are amazing in the detail and features.

I was going to go as I am only 45 minutes from there. Decided against it for Covid reasons. I am curious as to whether there were any restrictions in place. Checked the promoters website and  seen nothing. Were the aisles widened like york? Any signs on the doors about facial coverings? York promoters made things clear up front. Was wondering why this promoter did not(or did I miss something)?

I didn't see signs but we didn't enter through the main door to load in so I can't say if there was anything there..  The aisles seemed pretty wide but since this was my first time I can't say if they were wider than in the past.  Masking was optional.  I'd say it was about 15%-20% of folks wore masks.  You have to make that decision for yourself.  I had a good time.

That looked like a great show!

Is there a place that has a list of upcoming shows in the Northeast?

I only know of York and Allentown mainly.  But any shows of this size would be great to go to.

Thanks!

We set up a layout and ran trains this past Sunday at the local show in Brick, New Jersey at the Elks Lodge. 1st show there since February 2020. Very well- attended as folks are eager to go back to train shows. I don’t think the hobby missed a beat as folks were buying and vendors had plenty to sell.
A good sign that the hobby and the country is rebounding back.
We have the Allentown, Pa this coming weekend and it is a very large show you do not want to miss if you are in driving distance.

It would be nice to have a list that could be sorted or searched by state or region.  I think I remember past attempts, but it requires show organizers or promoters to submit the details of their shows, and many of these people are still operating in the paper flyer days.  Nearly every train show or meet, York included, usually has a table full of flyers for other upcoming nearby shows.  We always make it a point to take one each of these flyers and research the shows to see if it might be worth a trip.

One show you may want to check out, if you haven't already, is The Great Scale Model Train Show held in Timonium, MD several times a year.  We go once or twice a year (weather permitting) -- a long day trip from Pittsburgh -- and while there is not a ton of O, we still find it worth our while (others' mileage may vary), as we also shop for books, RR memorabilia, scenery items, etc.  Also, they have a lot of modular layouts, which we also enjoy.

Andy,

On Facebook, there is a page called Train Show Central.

Ted, I joined that page some time ago.  The point I was making was that if the show promoters/sponsors don't post their shows on such pages (the OGR Calendar page included) then they are of limited use.  I will occasionally post show info on occasion to help shows that benefit local VFD's, but that is something the people doing the shows should be doing for themselves.
