I am asking for some help with a switch that I cannot figure out, even after reading as many other searches on the subject. Here goes, I have an 0-31 mth switch, bought at a train show,(mistake ?), when the rails are aligned to go straight there is a green light on the controller, when I flex the lever to use the turnout, it will switch over, but the red does not light on the controller. After this action there are no lights on the controller, there is 14.5Va/c at the switch, using a Z-1000 for accessory power, and the only way to get it to work is to cut the power, reset it by hand because I cant move it with power applied. I have replaced the wiring and used a new controller but no joy. I have remover the covers and cannot see any loose or fried wires using a magnifier lens and even filed down the "V" rails in case of shorting.  I am reaching out for any help that anybody can offer before I replace it. I thank who ever can guide me in advance because I am stumped. Thanks.

I would test it without any other tracks connected to it. It seems to be acting like there's still one of the V rails touching the other tracks hooked up. Also, make sure all your wiring is connected to the right screws and that you removed the small brass jumper, since your using auxiliary power. If the same brick is being used to power the tracks, make sure your aux power wires aren't hooked up backwards to the switch track.

Try moving the switch motor to the other side of the switch track. It's possible that connection to the switch motor could be faulty and perhaps the contacts on other side of the switch are okay. If that doesn't work swap out the switch motor with a known good one to see if the problem is with the switch track or the switch motor.

To Dave Zucal and H1000, I thank you both very much for the advice to repair my problems. Yes I needed to trade the switch motor from a spare switch that I had and also had to do some grinding/filing down on a few V 's. Especially the ones where I have two switches together. I sure am glad for you guys and a few others on this site who have helped me out when I get things jammed up. Once again, thanks to both of you for your help.
