Hi all I just purchased a used MTH 20-3321-1 Hudson proto 2.0. Upon opening it I saw a hole drilled into the top of the tender. I asked the original owner what this hole was for and he responded that the tender was updated with a BRC. I don’t know why a hole was needed for this modification. So now we all know it has a BRC installed upon starting it up the rear marker lights on the tender are not working , the reverse light functions just fine but both re marker lights are not working ... any ideas

Pictures?
Open up the tender. Show us some photos of the innards....esp the marker light wiring/terminations.
Can't imagine why a BCR installation would result in no marker lights...unless some wires were jostled loose in the process.
Agreed....what, indeed, does a hole drilled in the tender top have to do with a BCR installation?
I will open up the tender and snap some pictures. I always thought a BRC was just a battery replacement but there seem to be more going on in there . I’ll post pictures asap
Thanks for the advise . It looks like I am stuck with this seeing that seller doesn’t want to know even know my name let alone take any responsibility for the issues
did you try a feature reset, that might make it work also try a conventual reset you should hear 2 whistle toots if the reset works !
Alan
I do not know why they drilled a hole like that? You need to get those exposed wires covered with heat shrink. THe BCR is covered in tape, not really an issue.
Markers come off the 8 pin connector in the board. They use a ten pin connector to jumper up to the shell controlls.
The feature reset or conv reset is a good recommendation. After that you need to test the markers, see if they work.
Part of that tape was to protect wires from the middle shell post when putting back together. Very easy to pinch a wire if your not careful. G
Did photos on the ebay ad show that the tender had a whole in it? If not, the item was not what was represented and you have every right to return it (or get a sizable refund) whether or not the seller wants to know your name. Whatever happens, be sure to give the seller a negative review.
I set up a return and I guess I clicked I “changed my mind “ by clicking that .. mistake removes all liability from the seller and Ebay will not offer me a refund. The seller will not respond not even respond , I never asked for a discount just a honest response and answer to what was going on and what was done. All I got from him was it was tested before he listed it .
really upset 😕
