Hello

This catalog had about the most nicest offerings of these since they began making them. Two of my most wanted engins had been announced the NS(missed the first offering) and the BNSF, even better they're offering it in 2 #'s. Was surprised to see the Hybrid being offered in a 2nd cab#. Never really thought of that but I like the idea and it will be cool to see 2 of them double-headed. I had never known about the GE NextFuel Demonstrator and the CSX Safety Train. With the blue body and string of lights the NextFuel engines has one of the most nice and striking paint schemes I have ever seen. The CSX set is just plain cool looking. Not really a FEC or CN fan but I know lots of folks on here had wanted to see them get made, so I'm happy that between these and Lionel's offerings they have a good selection now. The Iowa Interstate was pretty nice, but can't afford everything. Even the Railking was nice. Wonder if that 5,000th GEVO UP will be offered in Premier? It was almost like MTH read my mind with this lineup! What are your thoughts on these offerings?

I wanted to order a few myself. I like the detailing MTH does on these models. The two rail versions are excellent. I have many engines on order now!  I was saved when they didn't release another CSX scale wheeled version!! I should sell off some older models to get these new ones. I'd probably get the CN and the Next fuel versions. The big SD90s caught my eye last time. I ordered one CR but would have liked the Indiana as well.

Then there's more SD70ACes out too! I'd take the MP, MRL, CN, NS,......

Joe,

I like the 2-rail Evolution models too. Last week, I pre-ordered the 2-rail Evolution Hybrid (22-20506-2) from the 2015 Volume 2 catalog from one of our forum sponsors. Watching impressive videos of the Lionel (3-rail) version on these forums influenced my decision to order one.

Thanks,

Naveen Rajan

Bill,

I'm with you. What a great find to see all of those ES44s in the catalog!! Man, I almost lost it. The only problem is trying to decide which ones to get. I've been waiting for the CN to come back so that is a no brainer. After watching Spence's videos of the GE hybrids over and over I'm going to have get one of those too.

Keith,  Be sure to check out Trains Magazine's March 2015 edition. They have a huge article on the CSX safety train. It really is a cool story how it got started.

I know what you mean, deciding which ones to get is my problem too! I've seen Spences videos too, I think he has 3 of them tripleheaded right?

Bill,

Now I am also curious about the test car availability. Until now I assumed that the extra $30 for the Evolution Hybrid models were for the fancy working charging lights which are not available in any of the other ES44AC in the latest catalog, not even in the GE Next-Fuel Demonstrator.

According to the dealer with whom I reserved the model, the second cab # in 22-20507-2 or 22-20507-1 is another GE Evolution Hybrid model with a fictional road number (2015) for hobbyists who want a consist with 2 identical locomotives similar to the ones from Spence’s videos.

These are just my opinion,

Thanks,

I really doubt the test car is included. The test car is not mentioned or shown in the current catalog. Also, the price is only $30 more than the other models which is about what they charge extra for adding the charging lights.

I got the 20-2986-1 from the 2011 or 2012 catalog. The test car was shown with the engine, listed in the features and the MSRP was about $70 or so more than the standard models at the time, if I remember the prices correctly.

I agree with that. I was just wondering because it is the same price as the previous offering that does come with the test car. But the engines were priced lower then too. Not a big deal to me if it doesn't as I have one already.
